When managing multiple points of sale, it is common to see unmanaged local Facebook Pages appear. Today a brand has the possibility to manage the visibility of its points of sale on Facebook. The establishments can be managed from its main Facebook Page (company page), however it sometimes happens that the local Pages are already published. In order to obtain their ownership, Facebook has put in place a system of claim.
Why claim a local Facebook Page?
The publication of unmanaged Facebook Pages occurs when users report establishments that do not yet have an online presence. You can recognize such a Page by its mention “Unofficial Page” under the cover photo and its tooltip “This unofficial Page was created because people on Facebook have shown interest in this place or business. It is neither affiliated with nor managed by anyone associated with [business name].

How to claim a local Facebook Page?
To become an administrator of a location, you must claim it or merge
- Log in to Facebook.
- Search for the store's Page using its name.
- Click on “Is this your business?

- Choose to merge the unmanaged Page with a Page you already manage or claim it by phone or by sending documents. Here it is the second point that interests us.

- Fill out the form displayed after the claim request. By default, you are offered to verify the Page by phone, but you can choose the other option by clicking on the link “Verify this Page with documents instead.” at the bottom of the form.
