Three Google Posts publication formats: new releases, events & offer a discount

Google Business Profile is the reference platform for manage the referencing of points of sale belonging to a brand, within the Google searches (Google Search & Google Maps).

There is a little less than a year, Google Business Profile launched a feature “Google Posts”. This allows to publish messages on the local listings of establishments. Google was offering until now two types of formats: posts of type “events” and posts of type “standard” which allow publishing classic info and promos.

For the past few weeks, Google has deployed a new format allowing to communicate about offers limited-time: the Coupons Google Posts.

“Offer a discount” - The new publication format:

Today, thanks to Google Business Profile, you can then publish three types of local communications on the Google Search supports and Google Maps for your points of sale:

  • New releases
  • Events
  • Offer a discount

The goal of this new type of post is toattract customers thanks to an offer or a limited-time discount by adding a coupon code on Google Posts, usage conditions and a link allowing to benefit from the offer.

During a search on one of the Google engines (search and maps), consumers will be informed of the temporary promotional offer by retailers of type “30% discount on all our products until 10/06/2018 thanks to coupon JUN10”.

The launch of this coupon mode, just before the sales, can help many businesses generate foot traffic in stores during the period. Do not hesitate to contact us if you need help activating this feature for your points of sale!

The necessary information to create a "Couponing Post" on Google Business Profile:

  • A title: 58 characters (including spaces)
  • A text: 100 to 300 words
  • An image: 720 x 720 Pixels
  • A start and end date
  • Optional: coupon code
  • Optional: link to take advantage of the offer
  • Optional: terms of use

And omnichannel in all this?

You ’ve understood, the promotional offers offered by Google Posts coupons are key tools to ’encourage online purchase or also to ’bring your clientele to the point of sale via the web.

The creation of Google Posts, with the goal of generating clientele whether online or in-store it is fully part of an Omnichannel logic. This latter corresponds to a optimization of each distribution channel.

L’Omnichannel can be perceived as an evolution of multichannel where the simultaneous use of distribution channels available is better optimisée for consumers.

Google Posts coupons fully enter this logic, and if we wish to talk about the future it would be interesting to imagine the implementation of local Google Posts coupons for retailers, in order to better gérer stock surpluses per point of sale for example.
