Three Google Posts publication formats: new releases, events & offer a discount

Google Business Profile is the benchmark platform for managing the listing of points of sale belonging to a brand, in Google searches

Just under a year ago, Google Business Profile launched a feature called "Google Posts". This allows you to post messages on the local listings of establishments.

A few weeks ago, Google rolled out a new format allowing to communicate on limited-time offers: the Google Posts Coupons.

“Offer a discount” - The new publication format:

Today, thanks to Google Business Profile, you can now publish three types of local communications on Google Search and Google Maps

  • New releases
  • Events
  • Offer a discount

The goal of this new type of post is to attract customers thanks to an offer or a limited-time discount by adding a coupon code on Google Posts, terms of use and a link to benefit from the offer.

When searching on one of Google's search engines (search and maps), consumers will be informed of the temporary promotional offer by retailers such as “30% off all our products until 06/10/2018 with the JUN10 coupon”.

The launch of this coupon mode, just before the sales, can help many businesses generate in-store traffic during the period. Don't hesitate to contact us if you need help to activate this feature for your points of sale!

The necessary information to create a "Couponing Post" on Google Business Profile:

  • A title: 58 characters (including spaces)
  • A text: 100 to 300 words
  • An image: 720 x 720 Pixels
  • A start and end date
  • Optional: coupon code
  • Optional: link to take advantage of the offer
  • Optional: terms of use

And omnichannel in all this?

You have understood, the promotional offers offered by Google Posts coupons are key tools to encourage online shopping or to bring your customers to the point of sale via the web.

The creation of Google Posts, with the goal of generating customers whether online or in-store, fits entirely into an Omnichannel strategy. This corresponds to an optimization of each distribution channel.

Omnichannel can be seen as an evolution of multichannel where the simultaneous use of distribution channels available is better optimized for consumers.

Google Posts coupons fit entirely into this logic, and if we want to talk about the future, it would be interesting to imagine the implementation of local Google Posts coupons for retailers, in order to better manage inventory surpluses per point of sale, for example.
